These terms govern your use of the website at centobinlaw.ca, operated by Centobin Law Office. By using this website you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
These terms cover the website. They are not a retainer agreement and they do not govern legal services. If you retain the firm, a separate written retainer agreement will set out the terms of that engagement, and it prevails over anything on this page.
No legal advice, no solicitor-client relationship
Everything on this website is general information about Alberta law. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer about your own situation. Reading this site, sending us a message through it, or requesting a consultation does not create a solicitor-client relationship.
That relationship begins only when we have checked for conflicts of interest, agreed to act for you, and confirmed it in a signed retainer agreement. Please read our Disclaimer, which covers this in more detail.
Using this website
You may read, print and share the content of this site for your own personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to:
- use the site for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that infringes anyone’s rights;
- copy, republish or redistribute our content commercially without our written permission;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its server, or any connected system;
- introduce malicious code, or interfere with the site’s normal operation;
- use automated means to scrape or harvest content or contact details from the site;
- submit false information, or submit another person’s information without their permission.
Intellectual property
The text, layout, design, graphics and arrangement of this website are owned by Centobin Law Office or used under licence, and are protected by Canadian and international copyright law. The firm’s name and logo are our trademarks. Nothing on this site grants you any licence to use them.
Photographs on this site are stock images used under licence. They are illustrative and do not depict actual clients, actual matters, or the firm’s premises unless expressly stated.
Consultation and contact requests
The forms on this website let you request a consultation or send an enquiry. Submitting a form is a request, not a confirmed appointment. A consultation is scheduled only once we have replied and confirmed a time with you. Requested times are subject to availability, and the office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
We aim to respond to enquiries promptly during office hours, but we do not guarantee a response within any particular time. Do not rely on a website form for an urgent matter. If you have been arrested, are facing a bail hearing, or are approaching a filing or limitation deadline, call us at (866) 395-3232.
Information you submit through this website is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
Accuracy and availability
The law changes, and pages on this site may become out of date. We prepare content carefully but we do not warrant that it is complete, current or free of error, and we are not obliged to update it. Statutes, regulations, court rules, procedures and government programs described here may have changed since a page was written.
We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption or free of defects, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.
Links to other websites
Where we link to a government, court or other external website, we do so for convenience. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Centobin Law Office and its lawyers and staff are not liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or otherwise — arising from your use of this website, from reliance on anything it contains, or from any inability to access it.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here limits or excludes our professional obligations to a client under a signed retainer agreement.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify Centobin Law Office against any claim, loss or expense arising from your breach of these terms or your misuse of this website.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply in it. You agree that the courts of Alberta have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from this website or these terms.
The firm’s lawyers are licensed to practise in Alberta. This website is directed to people in Alberta, and it does not constitute an offer to provide legal services in any jurisdiction where the firm is not licensed to practise.
Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed, and the current version applies each time you use the site.
